Rhode Island School of Design is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE, formerly NEASC-CIHE), the regional accreditation agency for colleges and universities in the six New England states. The Commission is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a reliable authority on the quality of education for the institutions it accredits. RISD’s most recent comprehensive review by both NECHE and NASAD was conducted in 2016.

Program Accreditation

  • Architecture The Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture programs are accredited by the National Architecture Accrediting Board (NAAB)
  • Landscape Architecture The Master of Landscape Architecture is accredited by the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB) of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA)
  • Art Education The Master of Arts in Teaching is accredited by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE)
